The house was built in 1979 by a well-known fruit and vegetable entrepreneur. He called it Klondyke: "Or the gold nugget. It is therefore an invaluable object. This was the first house in this expansion in Nuenen. The municipal pond was created because the excavated soil was used to raise the whole plan, on top of the loamy soil. Hence the drainage that surrounds the house."

The house, built under (American) architecture, is very solidly constructed: "All indoor walls are double-walled with clean masonry on the visible side." Seventeen years ago, the current owners updated the bungalow. Behind the living room is an office / work room. Just like the kitchen it has a sliding door and can be closed without loss of space. All scrap ceilings and masonry inside have been replaced. All walls have been plastered again and all doors have been widened so that they are wheelchair accessible. All ceilings have also been retreated and fitted with recessed spotlights.

LAYOUT

Thanks to its clever layout, this spacious bungalow feels and looks cozy. The left half is for the sleeping and bathing area, with the utility areas for storage and central heating on the front, while on the right the living, dining and kitchen area take full advantage of daylight and sunlight.

LIVING WING

HALL
The entrance is sheltered and covered. At the front door there is a full width walk-in mat integrated into the natural stone floor. In the spacious hall immediately right there is a spacious and modern toilet with fountain. Left around the corner is a large pantry with shelves. Straight ahead is the door to the spacious living and dining room, while the corridor to the left leads to the sleeping wing.

LIVING AND DINING ROOM
The Jura stone floor is completely without thresholds. Near the sliding doors over the full width and height of the room is the spacious dining area with room for a large dining set and cupboard. Next to it is a sunken sitting pit that is half high walled; separate, yet cozy, and involved in the rest of the house. The wall contains the beautiful gas fireplace, TV niche and speakers.

Through the two large windows there is plenty of daylight and a view of the garden, the municipal pond behind it and the monumental weaver's house at the front. Thanks to the external sun protection at both windows, the inside remains cool.

OFFICE ROOM 1
Separated by a sliding door, which can remain open for involvement in life in the house, there is a spacious study next to the sunken seating area. This can easily be converted into a bedroom, TV or playroom. The window gives fine views of the side garden, while opposite a separate door leads to the terrace in the backyard.

KITCHEN
The compact and closed kitchen, next to the dining area of the living room, is robustly executed in country style. The floor is of bleached oak planks. Showpiece is the real AGA, the classic, English stove with cast iron core for heat storage, which will last for generations. This ultimate slow cooker has a simmer and pressure cooker, a heat source and four ovens and provides continuous comfort and a comfortable atmosphere. In the summer and during (holiday) trips, the AGA on gas (conversion to electric is possible) can be switched to savings mode or off completely. For such cases, the kitchen also has a ceramic hob.

Around the AGA are all solid wood cabinets made to measure. The kitchen is also equipped with a Miele dishwasher. The counter top with integrated washbasin is made of black stone and gives a view of the front garden and the weaver's house through the large, light-transmitting windows. In the corner there are two large pharmacy cabinets integrated, also custom made by an interior construction company, with next to it the built-in refrigerator and freezer (both also from Miele). The practical sliding door, which does not take up any space, leaves enough space for a dining table for four to six people.

 

BED AND BAD WING

From the entrance hall a spacious hallway leads to the sleeping and bathroom area.

LAUNDRY ROOM
Opposite the indoor storage / hobby room is a practical laundry room, with connections for washer and dryer and a sink. The large skylight provides plenty of daylight.

BEDROOM 2
The large (master) bedroom is located in the quiet corner of the bungalow. The spacious bedroom has double doors to the side garden and a large closet. It is also easy to make a walk-in closet.

BATHROOM 1
This sleeping suite has its own, very spacious bathroom (everything from Villeroy & Boch and Ucosan) with double sinks, design radiator, bath with whirlpool, separate toilet and large walk-in shower. Again, there is a large skylight for lots of daylight.

BEDROOM 3
This room has a nice, big window. The corner creates a cozy niche for a reading chair, desk or dressing table. This room is also ideal as a work or hobby room.

BEDROOM 4
This spacious room also has a large window to the side garden and a large closet for lots of storage space.

Without too much trouble, bedrooms 3 and 4 can easily be converted into one large room, if desired.

BATHROOM 2
This bathroom is located opposite bedroom 3 and 4 across the hall with another large skylight. This bathroom is compact and practically equipped with sink, shower with thermostat and a design radiator.

 

SHEDS AND STORAGE SPACE

STORAGE ROOM AND HOBBY ROOM
Between the carport and the hall, this bungalow has a large storage room, with its own door to the outside, a large closet in the corner and practical shelves. Next to it is a separate central heating and technical room with meter cupboard and the boiler for the solar collector on the roof.

OUTDOOR STORAGE
In the garden around are three barns / storage rooms, totaling almost 27 square meters. There is more than enough storage space for tools, sports and camping equipment, bicycles, toys, garden furniture, etcetera.

The half-height storage room behind the barn at the carport is suitable for example for a folding trailer. The sloping green roof is covered with sedum, for a natural, undisturbed view.

The garden access from the carport is closed with a solid fence with gate, so the back remains easily accessible with for example the bicycle. Pets and (grand)children can play safely, because the access to the large backyard with a gate is closed.

 

GARDEN AROUND 

In the design of the garden, the subsoil has been taken into account in a well-considered manner. Traditionally, this location has been home to ponds; this has resulted in a layer of loam at a depth of more than one meter, which prevents groundwater from rising and falling. A professionally designed drainage system around the site will make this possible.

The garden has a lot of mature greenery and is well maintained. High, guided amber trees maintain privacy in the direction of the rear neighbors. Underneath is a large and recently renovated swimming pond of about 1.30 m deep. This is equipped with two water pumps, one for circulation and therefore water quality and one for a fountain.

For the safety of (domestic) animals and small children there is a system with electric fencing installed, which with low current for example also keeps herons outside the pond.

SEVERAL TERRACES

Near the sunken sitting area and the study, there’s a spacious paved terrace facing south and overlooking the swimming pond. The deep overhang finished with zinc keeps the heat from the living room on hot summer days.

On the left a gate leads to the sheltered and cozy side garden with three rustic storerooms. At the back of the house is a recently and skillfully build henhouse with fence and a large coop.

In addition to the solid barn in the corner is a paved and round terrace, to sit nice and quiet, completely out of sight, in the afternoon shadow and the evening sun. This privacy terrace is surrounded by the yard fence and a wide gravel path, while against the walls of the bungalow several beds include large rhododendrons, hydrangeas and yew. The master bedroom leads here with double terrace doors; great for the morning.

Against the outer walls are strips of split stone, so that rainwater does not splash and is well drained into the soil and drain hose.

This detached bungalow with surrounding garden is located in the heart of Nuenen, and at the same time amidst plenty of greenery and tranquility. The mature green all around offers privacy. NUENEN C.A. AND SURROUNDINGS

The village, known for its most famous inhabitant, Vincent van Gogh, to whom Vincentre is dedicated, counts the nuclei Nuenen, Nederwetten and Gerwen. The municipality is the rural, rustic and chic neighbor of the large city of Eindhoven with all its metropolitan facilities, sports, culture, education and activity.

Nuenen C.A. holds its own. It houses many attractions, such as three windmills: the Opwettense Watermolen van Opwetten (painted by Vincent, now a restaurant and catering and party destination), the cornmill Roosdonck (also recorded on canvas by Vincent several times) and the Hooydonkse watermill. Also worth a visit: The Van Gogh Church (300 meters from the bungalow) and village farm Weverkeshof (opposite the bungalow). Nuenen also has the active theatre association De Lindespelers and cultural center Het Klooster, with a multifunctional theatre.

Nuenen can rightly be called burgundian: the hospitality industry is diverse and of an excellent standard, with many fine restaurants. Internationally known is the two-star restaurant De Lindenhof, run by chef Soenil Bahadoer, just 400 m from the bungalow.

The town has a rich social life, a vibrant center with supermarkets, fine shops, boutiques and restaurants, various sports clubs and shopping center Kernkwartier. In and around the village there are lots of greenery and nature to enjoy cycling and walking.
