12 sep 2024: Single starter: one and a half tons of own money needed for apartment
For an apartment, a single earner under 35 with a modal salary currently needs to put in an average of about €157,000 of his own money. In more than 25% of municipalities, even more than two tons of own deposit is needed for a single starter to buy an average single-family house. This emerges from Independer's Own Money Map based on data from Calcasa.
As a result, fewer and fewer starters think they will be able to buy a house within two years. Research conducted by Q&A Research on behalf of Independer shows that no more than 13% of those surveyed expect to be able to buy a house within two years. This share was still at 34% last year. Moreover, more than 6 out of 10 doubt ever becoming homeowners themselves. As main reasons are mentioned the high asking price in combination with the required own money.
