3 jun 2024: Flow-through buyers put €211,000 in excess value in May
Move-up buyers put more excess value into buying a new home in May. The difference between the average mortgage amount and the market value was € 211,000 in May; the highest ever. This is shown by figures from mortgage platform HDN.
On average, buyers in May borrowed € 363,000 for a new home for which they had to pay € 574,000. “Now that house prices have been rising sharply for several months, we also see the importance of excess value increasing when financing the new home,” HDN said. Flow-through buyers then need to borrow less.
